On the 13th of May 2019 starts, myopia awareness week, which this year has been announced as a worldwide event.
Print this optotype (Romanian, English) on an A4 sheet and stick it to a door/wall at your eye level while standing.
Short-sightedness (Myopia)
Choose any row from a certain distance and slowly step back until you reach a point where the chosen row becomes unclear. Determine the distance from where that row looks unclear to you. Take small steps backward to find that point and stop. From this position, put one leg forward and one leg backward. When you bend your front leg looking straight ahead, you see the row clearly. If you bend your back leg, the row seems unclear to you.
Oscillate between the front leg (clear eyesight) and the back leg (fuzzy eyesight) for about 5-10 minutes.
Repeat the exercise every day, preferably several times a day. The point from which you see that row unclearly will move backward. When you see the chosen row from the other end of the room well, move to the next row.
Long-sightedness (Hypermetropia)
Choose any row from a certain distance and slowly take a step forward until you reach a point where that chosen row starts becoming unclear. Determine the distance from where that row looks unclear to you. Take small steps forward to find that point and stop. From this position, put one leg forward and one leg backward. When you bend the front leg looking straight ahead, you see the row unclearly. If you bend the back leg, the row seems clear to you. Oscillate between the front leg (fuzzy eyesight) and the back leg (clear vision) for about 5-10 minutes.
Repeat the exercise every day, preferably several times a day. The point from which you see that row unclearly will move forward. When you manage to see well the chosen row while pressing your nose against it, move to the next row.
